Yes indeed, failure is a good teacher. However, it is a risky proposition too. The two things mentioned that the failure should happen early and inexpensively is something that cannot be easily controlled, since the failures are mostly unexpected. What is indeed important is to build a culture such that exprimentation and exploration are encouraged in a responsible manner and if in that spirit failure does occur, then it should be taken in a positive stride. The typical practice is to study the successes of other and learn from that. Nothing wrong in that, but it's equally important(if not more) to learn from the failure. Often, how to do NOT do a thing is often equally important as how to do it. Posted by kabir |
